Course overview:
  • 12-week part-time course presented online throughout Nigeria
  • This course will prepare you to formulate your electronic evidence case profile & determine the tangent of digital evidence to your case strategy.
  • Prepare you to conduct an examination in chief, cross examine a witness or re-examine a document custodian or computer forensic expert.
  • And enable you to achieve technical understanding of the admissibility of statements contained in a document and produced by computer as provided in Section 84 of the Evidence Act, 2011
  • Upon successful completion of the course, students will be awarded a Certificate of Completion, approved by DE-CFI

Module 1 Overview of Digital Evidence: Introduction to the world of digits
Module 2 Computer components, devices and their evidential values
Module 3 Digital Evidence & their sources
Module 4 Technical Components: Metadata, Time & Date stamps
Module 5 Technical Components: MD5 Harsh values (Fingerprint of a file) and Public key infrastructure
Module 6 Computer stored vs. computer generated evidence and the Hearsay Rule
Module 7 eDiscovery Fundamentals
Module 8 Documentation, Chain of custody and evidence handling procedure
Module 9 Digital media, video footage Analysis
Module 10 Investigative domain of digital evidence
Module 11 Scientific Expert Witness and admissibility under the Daubet test
Module 12 Technical Evaluation of section 84 of the Nigerian Evidence Act 2011and comparative analyse with other jurisdiction, i.e.. United Kingdom, Canada, USA and Australia
